Glenmore Country House Bed and Breakfast is near Kilmelford village in Argyll on the west coast of Scotland. It is just 16 miles south of Oban and is set in its own grounds, with magnificent views over Loch Melfort. Alasdair and Melissa Oatts offer 3 luxury bedrooms in their family home.
The New Wing Suite has a double/twin bedded room, a single bedded room and a small private sitting room. There is also a private bathroom and an additional bed or cot is available by arrangement. Price £40.00 to £45.00 per person per night. Children half-price.
The Yellow Room is a double/twin bedded room and has a private bathroom & toilet (not en-suite). Price £35.00 to £37.50 per person per night. Exact rates depends on length of stay and time of year.
The House was originally constructed in 1854 and enlarged in 1935, with many interesting architectural features. The main rooms are spacious and elegant, individually decorated and furnished with antiques, pictures and ornaments. The entrance hall is panelled with red pine and there are carved figures on the oak banisters Throughout the house natural wood is retained as a feature, adding to the feeling of warmth and comfort. Bedrooms are very comfortable and have a hairdryer, plus tea and coffee making facilities. There is, of course, ample off street parking for your car.
Breakfast is served in the Drawing Room which features bay windows with fitted seating, a magnificent cornice and oak flooring. The fine views complement the food. A fully cooked traditional breakfast is provided using good quality, predominantly Scottish-sourced produce. Alternatively a continental breakfast is available. Packed lunches can be prepared for guests on request. For evening meals and dining out, there is an excellent choice within the immediate area, from snacks to gourmet dinners.
Directions: Glenmore is just outside (south) the village of Kilmelford, sixteen miles south of Oban and twenty-one miles north of Lochgilphead. Follow the A816 until you see our signs. From there, follow the private avenue lined with a variety of trees up to the house.
